Treatment Strategies in Physical Therapy: Examples from Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome

The choice of a therapeutic intervention is the end result of a comprehensive analysis of physical impairments, psychological characteristics and environmental factors that exert an effect on the patient. Physical therapists need to identify the most relevant factors for determining the appropriate therapeutic intervention. This article uses several examples from the evaluation of individuals with patellofemoral pain syndrome in order to clarify the importance of distinguishing between findings of varying relevance to the decision on a therapeutic intervention.
